Enough Rice?

It's time for my daily, embittered, unplanned morning rant. Every day, almost without exception, I get up and read the news and become thoroughly incensed before water has time to boil for coffee. Today the headline that grabbed me,

Rice Tells Europe to Move Past Conflicts

Bitch -- a diplomat doesn't tell, a diplomat asks. A diplomat persuades. And for the record, they're all bitches in the administration; I use the term more for men than for women because, apparently, I now suffer from acquired tourettes.

"America stands ready to work with Europe on our common agenda and Europe must stand ready to work with America,"

Let's review. It's been 24 months since our aggressive, pre-emptive, ill advised and demonstrably unjustified invasion of Iraq, our victorious pageant of salvation, if you will, and the rule of the day is death, chaos, and insurrection. Other top headlines of the morning read:

21 Dead, 27 Hurt in Iraq Suicide Bombing

Islamic Radicals Hunt Barbers in Baghdad

Group Claims Execution of Italy Journalist

Pain and Loss of Beheading Lingers for Son

That last bit was just unfortunate journalism. But hunting barbers in Baghdad? How much does that suck? How crazy, I ask you, is that? Fodder enough for a Peter Sellars opera. The point is, it's not the past, it's the now. We are ass deep in blood. They're picking up body parts as she speaks, and the day is yet young. And it's not like she's just spinning: she, personally, led us to Iraq. Where does she get the balls to stand up there and completely ignore our now absolute lack of credibility, step up to the plate and tell Europe to get over it?

FUCK Dr. Rice. Yes -- sure, she's smart. She's accomplished, she's bold, she's articulate and she play's a mean piano. I ask simply, is she the best we've got? Today on her first mission abroad as Secretary of State she has proven, as if there was any doubt, that she is no diplomat. Please, Europe, I beg you -- reject her out of hand and send her back in shame. Or better, arrest her while you can, on your soil engaged in an act of aggression, and have her tried in the Hague for war crimes, torture, and murder. If her world view does not constitute terrorism, nothing does.
